PENATALAKSANAAN ULKUS KAKI DIABETIK DENGAN TERAPI OKSIGEN HIPERBARIK PADA PASIEN DIABETES MELLITUS: LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract

Background : Diabetic ulcers are a frightening disease because this disease in an advanced complication experienced by people with diabetes mellitus which has anegative impact on person’s quality of life. One method that can be used to treat diabetic foot ulcers is hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This therapy is known to facilitate wound healing by improving wound tissue perfusion, increasing fibroblast replication and collagen production and increasing phagocytic ability. Study Objective : The aim in this study was determine the management og diabetic foot ulcers with hyperbaric oxygen therapy in patients with diabetic mellitus. Methods : This research was a literature review with quantitative approach through article searches conducted using electronic databases such as PubMed, Scient Direct, and Wiley Online Library to answer the purpose of writing. The combination of keywords used in the article search was Diabetic Foot Ulcer or Diabetic Foot and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or Oxygenations Hyperbaric and Wound Healing. Results : The result showed that, there were 7 article reviewed, it was shown that the administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy can reduce the area of the ulcer and accelerate the wound healing process after undergoing 10 session of therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can increase the concentration of oxygen in body tissue so as to trigger the metabolism of cell functions that can help improve microcirculation and accelerate wound healing. Conclusion : Management of diabtic foot ulcers with hyperbaric oxygen therapy in patient with diabetes mellitus significantly reduces diabetic foot ulcers and accelerates the wound healing process.
